Access Learning Center (ALC)
Grades: K-12
Student Profile:
The Access Learning Center is designed for students whose primary disabilities are intellectual, neurological and significant developmental delay and may be characterized by one or more of the following:
- The student has a documented primary disability in one of the following categories: intellectual, neurological, developmental delay.
- The student has shown to be unresponsive to multiple, thoughtful attempts at implementing relative interventions, accommodations, and modifications in less restrictive settings.
- Activities of daily living are significantly less developed than their same age peers. These skills include: self-help, personal care, safety, and community living.
Eligibility Determination:
Special education services will be delivered in the least restrictive environment. Placement decisions are determined through:
- the pre referral process, which includes identification of area of concern, consultation with observation by ALC teacher and review of records
- having documentation meeting criteria listed above
- Team meeting to determine placement to meet programming needs
- Team evaluations administered by school district personnel, in addition to outside agency evaluations, are considered to determine student need and eligibility. The ALC teacher reviews the student’s current programming as part of the evaluation.
- Placement decisions are made through the IEP Team meeting process.
Program Goal:
The goal of the program is to teach foundational academic and social skills as well as learning strategies to help access the curriculum. The program also helps students understand their own strengths and weaknesses as learners, and to self-advocate for their individual needs.
Program Description:
Students receive individualized academic programming. Direct instruction is provided by the special education teacher and/or support staff in a small group or 1:1 setting. The Core Standards are adapted to the individual needs of the student. Services address the individual needs of students which may include but are not limited to communication skills, social skills, academics, self-management and activities of daily living. As the student masters the prerequisite skills, programming focuses on further developing vocational training, transition plans, and community access skills. An interdisciplinary team approach is utilized to ensure areas of need are addressed. Opportunities for inclusion are provided to the extent the Team determines are appropriate for the individual student. The type and frequency of service are determined at the student’s IEP team meeting

Therapeutic Learning Center (TLC)
Grade: K-12
Student Profile:
The Therapeutic Learning Center provides services and support for students with a Social/Emotional disability. This could include one or more of the following:
- A difficulty to learn which cannot be explained by intellectual factors
- A difficulty building or maintaining satisfactory interpersonal relationships with peers and teachers
- Inappropriate/ atypical behaviors or feelings during a typical school day
- Consistent and regular disruptive and/or unsafe behaviors due to an emotional disability
- A difficulty with emotional self-regulation across multiple settings
- Insufficient coping skills
- Students may have a clinically diagnosed mental disorder.

Program Goal:
The Therapeutic Learning Center is designed to provide therapeutic, academic, behavioral and structural supports necessary for significantly emotionally disabled students to successfully function in the least restrictive environment. Students requiring services in this program are viewed as high risk for academic failure without appropriate behavioral, social and emotional supports. The primary goal of the program is to help students develop and generalize coping skills to become independent learners. Additionally, assistance is provided to families to access community resources and services.
Program Description:
Students participate in an individualized behavioral management system to address their significant emotional and behavioral needs. The curriculum is in accordance with the Common Core. In an effort to educate students in the least restrictive environment, TLC provides supports for inclusive opportunities when appropriate. The type and frequency of service are determined at the student’s IEP team meeting.

Language Learning Center (LLC)
Grades: 3-12
Student Profile:
The Language Learning Center is designed for students whose primary disabilities are Learning and Language Disabilities and may be characterized by one or more of the following:
- The student has a documented, primary disability in one of the following categories: Reading, Writing, Decoding, Communication, auditory processing, Expressive or Receptive Language.
- The student has shown to be unresponsive to multiple, thoughtful attempts at implementing relative interventions, accommodations, and modifications in less restrictive settings.
- The student is of average to above average intelligence with significant weaknesses in reading comprehension, decoding, spelling, writing, auditory processing and expressive/receptive language. weaknesses significantly impact the student's ability to access the regular education curriculum.

Special education services will be delivered in the least restrictive environment. Placement decisions are determined through:
- The pre referral process, which includes identification of area of concern, consultation with observation by LLC teacher and review of records.
- Having documentation meeting criteria listed above
- Team meeting to determine placement to meet programming needs
- Team evaluations administered by school district personnel, in addition to outside agency evaluations, are considered to determine student need and eligibility. the LLC teacher reviews the student's current programming as part of the evaluation.
- Placement decisions are made through the IEP Team meeting process.
Program Goal:
The Language Learning Center is designed to improve reading, writing, and language skills for students with significant impairments. The primary goal of the program is to improve literacy and language skills so that students can become competent readers, writers, and thinkers. students will gain an understanding of their own strengths and weaknesses, and they will be able to advocate for their individual needs.
Program Description:
The Language Learning center provides a highly structured environment. Students learn to become strong critical thinkers, problem solvers, and independent learners while understanding and advocating for their own learning needs. The teacher sets high academic and behavioral expectations. Based on formal and informal assessments, and academic program is out in place where the student will immediately be successful. The teacher continues to monitor and assess progress to ensure student success. the teacher works closely with the Speech and Language Pathologist and Reading Specialist to ensure that the student is working to close gaps in literacy and language skills. Areas of focus include reading comprehension, reading fluency, written language, decoding/encoding, language structure, and verbal expression. Instruction is based on the Common core and the student has plenty of opportunity to practice and review skills. The type and frequency of services are determined at the student's IEP team meeting.
